A Marathon Story (Part 1)

A Marathon Story  (Part 1)

CrossFit Pinnacle member Calvin Babcock has been with our School of Elite Fitness for over 7  months now.  Below is an email I recieved from him just days after completing his 15th Marathon!

Nick-    As I mentioned to you, I am delighted with my run in Sunday's Disney Marathon.   My past five marathons were not fun-  the last five miles were basically torture, as I always ran out of gas.   So, I was mentally prepared to give up running marathons (I have completed 15 so far) if the Disney was another bad one.   However, it was great.   I ran with a pace team running 9:30 miles, expecting to run out of gas again.   I never did, and only had to slow down slightly at mile 25.  I felt great, and never stopped to walk.  So, I am very happy, and will run the Ocala Marathon on 1/23.   I attribute the improvement solely to CrossFit.  The core training and the overall fitness improvement were very helpful.

If you want to hang my Disney Marathon medal in the gym, I would be happy to give it to you for that purpose.    I think it is only meaningful because of my age (53), and my time: 4:16.    Although I think this time is about as slow as you can run one of these things, it is in the top 25% of finishers.   ~Calvin

We are honored to have his medal hang at our gym, and proud of the inspiration Calvin represents to our other student members.

Thank you Calvin! (to be continued, more great stories of achievement)
